Southern or Mid-Atlantic cherry chest of drawers with poplar and possibly chestnut or similar hardwood secondary. Consisting of a plain, slightly overhanging top above four graduated, scratch-beaded, and dovetailed drawers fitted with compass star bale pulls, all above a shaped skirt, and flaring French-style feet. 39 3/4" H x 43" W x 20 3/4" D. Circa 1815. Note: Acquired in 1980 from Miller''s Auction in Newport, Tennessee.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition. Older refinished surface, the top with minor wear, some vertical wood shrinkage to the sides, and one back leg with metal reinforcement.
