1st item: Coin silver calling card case, cartouche shape with engraved grape and leaf decoration, hinged lid, chain handle, and incuse stamp on interior rim for James Innes Lemon, working Louisville, 1841-1858. 3 1/2" x 2 1/4". Note: James I. Lennon appears as both a silversmith and a jeweler in the 1840s. At least one source states he was an apprentice to Asa Blanchard in Lexington early in his career. 2nd item: Silver thimble, stamped COIN 8 J.W. JONES MT. STERLING KY (James W. Jones, working Mt. Sterling, 1878-1894). 3/4"H. Combined weight: 1.83 oz troy oz.
PROVENANCE: Private Southern Collection.
CONDITION: Possible monogram removal to shield on card case, light scratching/wear, otherwise both items very good condition.
