After Cristofano Allori (Italy, 1577-1621) oil on canvas painting titled "Judith with the Head of Holofernes". Depicts the Hebrew heroine Judith in an orange dress with a patterned white sash and red cloak, holding the head of Holofernes in one hand, a dagger in the other, her maid behind her against a dark background. Unsigned. Housed in a dark varnished wood molded frame with gilt exterior edge and rabbet edge. 12" x 9 1/2" sight, 16 1/4" x 13 5/8" frame. Continental, circa 18th century. Provenance: Estate of Celia (Cece) Webb, Nashville, TN. CONDITION: Relined. Craquelure all over, with small areas of loss up to 1/4" (upper left quadrant). UV light reveals spots of inpainting up to 1/2" on Judith's dress (over small patched tear) and some inpainting to head of Holofernes; additional scattered inpainting, including some at edges of canvas.
