Carl Sublett (Tennessee, 1919-2008) impressionist watercolor on paper coastal scene, depicting a verdant shoreline with sailboats in the distance. Signed and dated ''68 lower right. Housed in a gilt wood frame. Sight: 16-1/2" H x 22" W, Frame: 23-7/8" H x 29" W. Carl Sublett studied Art History at the American Academy in Florence, Italy after World War II, and became Professor of Fine Art at the University of Tennessee. Sublett was a member of the National Academy of Design. His works are in the collections of the National Academy of Design, The Tennessee State Museum, and the Cheekwood Museum of Art, Nashville.
PROVENANCE: Private Knoxville, Tennessee collection.
CONDITION: Overall very good condition.
