Lot 730: Stephen Scott Young Watercolor Landscape Plus Etching, White Rock

Stephen Scott Young (American, b. 1957) watercolor painting, study for “White Rock,” depicting a coastal landscape with lighthouse and red-roofed house and outbuilding, signed and dated 2006 upper right. Sight: 10 1/2 in. W x 8 in. H. The watercolor is matted and framed together with a copperplate etching (3rd impression, first state) of the same scene, but smaller and from a slightly different angle, with artist’s notes. Sheet: 7 5/8 in. H x 10 in. W. The etching is mounted atop the mat, over the watercolor, and both pieces are housed under plexiglass in a silvered molded frame with gallery label verso. Frame: 24 in. H x 20 in. W.

PROVENANCE: Private collection, ex-Alan Shuptrine Fine Art, Chattanooga.

CONDITION: Watercolor with some exfoliation lower left and slight buckling to paper. Print with ink smudges.
