Dimunitive American late Classical secretary bookcase, probably Ohio, figured mahogany veneers and cherry, in two parts, the ogee cornice over a pair of paneled doors with beaded edges, the base with a fold-out slant lid with an unusual carved heart escutcheon and fitted interior having a central prospect drawer concealing three drawers, long drawers flank prospect door over two pigeon holes. Below the desk section are three drawers, raised on bracket feet. All drawers dovetailed, poplar secondary wood. 79 1/4" H x 32 1/4" W x 20 1/4" D. Circa 1850-1860. Condition: Refinished, minor veneer losses and repairs.
