Two linoleum block prints after originals by Pablo Picasso (Spanish, 1881-1973 ), printed by Arnera, Vallauris, France. From the publication Homage to Picasso, New York, Tudor Publishing, 1971. 1st item: Six-color linocut in yellow, red, green, blue, purple, and black, after Le Dejeuner sur l'herbe, after Manet I, 1959. With text on backing: "Printed by Arnera at Vallauris with the same process and inks used for original works." 2nd item: Three-color lithograph in black, brown, and beige, after Three Women Waking (Trois femmes au Reveil), 1959. With tombstone label and text with printer information on backing. Both floated behind U/V filtering plexiglass in gilt and ebonized wood frames with cream mats and gilt fillets. Sheets: 7 3/4" H x 9 1/4" W. Frames: 19 3/4" H x 21 1/4" W.
PROVENANCE: Vanderbilt Hillel, from the Benjamin D. and Ruby G. Schulman Foundation.
CONDITION: Both items in apparently good condition, trimmed to margins. Not examined outside of frames. Frames with negligible abrasions.
