Eames No. 670 & 671 lounge chair and ottoman, made by Herman Miller and designed in 1956 by Charles Eames (American, 1907-1978) and Ray Eames (American, 1912-1988). Rosewood veneer shells with black leather cushions and cast aluminum bases. Herman Miller white and silver medal labels (used 1956-1964) to undersides of chair below faded paper labels, ottoman not labeled. Chair: approx. 32" H x 33" W x 33" D. Ottoman: 16" H x 26" W x 21" D. Note: a matching black leather lounge chair and ottoman from the same private collection is being offered on Day 1 of this auction.
PROVENANCE: Private Nashville Collection, acquired mid 20th century.
CONDITION: Chair and ottoman overall good condition and structurally sound. Ottoman with 2" x 1/4" veneer loss along top edge with paint touch-up. Chair missing two armrest screws, one on each side, and has one broken cushion hook to seat. Seat cushion and one armrest with few scattered faint white streaks or scuffs; underside of seat cushion with approx. 3" L tear in corner, near seam. Scattered abrasions and wear to shells. Leather to both items with scattered wear, some cracking to armrests.
