Robert Samuel Grossman (New York, 1940-2018) original airbrush and ink on paper illustration titled "Home World" depicting the earth as a house, with a dog and bird bath in the front yard. Artist label and biographical information en verso. Signed "Robert Grossman" lower right, dated 2008 to label. Matted under glass in a black metal frame. Sight: 13 1/2" H x 10 1/2" W. Framed: 20 1/2" H x 16 1/2" W. Note: This illustration was originally intended to be published for Earth Day (alternatively titled Happy Earth Day) but was later published as "Home World". Biography: "In an award winning career spanning over 50 years, Robert Grossman''s distinctive, satirical illustrations, cartoons and sculptures appeared over 500 times on the covers of various national publications, including TIME, Rolling Stone, Newsweek, Esquire, Sports Illustrated, The Nation, New York magazine, National Lampoon, and The New York Times. He''s also known for having created the iconic poster for the movie ''Airplane!,'' and he was nominated for an Academy Award for his short animated short film ''Jimmy the C'' in 1977."
