Pair of cased Liege, Belgium Boxlock Percussion Overcoat Pistols, .49 caliber, serial number 12, bottom of breech. Bottom of breech stamped "12" with crown over "AF" and Liege, Belgium city mark "ELG" in an oval. Round twist turn-off sighted barrels, checkered ebonized wood grips, iron mounted with scrolling foliate engravings to frames and folding triggers, German silver butt cap with shell shaped hidden compartments and blank octagonal escutcheon inlaid to top of grips. Housed in a fitted black leatherette case with a powder flask and a barrel-key. Barrel length: 2". Overall length: 6 1/4". Case: 1 1/4" H x 9 1/4" W x 6" D.
CONDITION: Overall good condition with varying degrees of pepper pitting, oxidation to metal. Barrel to one pistol with series of surface scratches to end near breech. Grips with light surface wear. Action is stiff on both pistols but holds at full and half cock. Case with general surface wear, separations, staining to interior, inscription from previous owner.
