1st item: Illuminated manuscript page on vellum from a Book of Hours, likely Italian, having Latin script with initials decorated in gilt, bordered with foliate designs. Housed in a custom wooden frame. Sight: 5" H x 3 3/4" W. Framed: 8 1/8" H x 5 5/8" W x 1 3/4". Circa 14th century. 2nd item: Illuminated manuscript page on vellum from a Book of Hours, likely Flanders, Belgium, having black and red Latin script with initials with gilt decoration. Housed in a custom wooden frame. Sight: 7 1/16" H x 4 5/8" W. Framed: 8 3/16" H x 5 11/16" W x 1 3/4" D. Circa late 15th century. 3rd item: Leaf from the apocryphal Book of Judith, taken from the 1541 Martin Luther suppressed Bible, printed in Leipzig by Nicolaum Wolrab. Double-sided page on laid paper with German text. Includes information card with English text describing the origins of the page. Both hinge mounted together in a brown mat. Mat: 19 3/4" H x 10 1/8" W.
PROVENANCE: Property of a Tennessee Religious Institution.
CONDITION: 1st item: Some minor tears to surface of the page, toning, minor flaking from gilt elements. 2nd item: Some fading of text, staining. 3rd item: Light toning, some fading to text in the lower right, minor tears resulting from hinge mounting.
