Small Continental, manner of KPM, hand-painted porcelain plaque depicting the Madonna and Child, seated by a tree, with a village in the background. Front is unsigned, back unmarked. Label for Old Antique House, Washington, D.C. affixed en verso. Housed in a carved and painted wood frame with gadroon decoration. Sight: 9 3/4" H x 7 1/2" W. Framed: 15 1/2" H x 13 1/2" W. Late 19th century.
PROVENANCE: Property of a Tennessee Religious Institution.
CONDITION: Blue overpainting to one segment of Mary's garment, otherwise in very good condition. Frame with natural wood shrinkage.
