Two (2) jacquard coverlets. 1st item: Signed and dated Pennsylvania jacquard coverlet, woven in shades of red, white, blue and green, with tree and snowflake border surrounding leaf, star and swirl designs. Signed in lower corners, Made by J and S Turnbaugh, Sugarloaf Luzerne Co. For ___ (recipient name blank), Penn 1849. 83" H x 79" W excluding fringe. 2nd item: Jacquard coverlet with eagle and other patriotic motifs in shades of red, white, blue and green. Features a center medallion surrounded by four eagles atop shields, enclosed in an urn and grapevine border with corner medallions. Fringe at three sides. 79" H x 78" W excluding fringe. Both American, mid 19th century. Provenance: Private Brentwood, TN collection. CONDITION: Both with good vivid color. 1st coverlet has minimal fringe loss, otherwise excellent condition. 2nd coverlet has a few scattered stains, largest 3" diameter.
