A MAP OF NORTH AMERICA FROM THE LATEST SURVEYS AND MAPS, engraved by Thomas Kitchin, published by John Blair, LLD. and F.R.S., as a supplement to his "Tables of Chronology", London, ca. 1768. Copperplate with hand coloring depicting the eastern two-thirds of North America, including some of Canada and Florida, displaying cities and towns, territory borders, bodies of water, mountain ranges, and other points of interest, including Native American tribes' locations, with English text. Title, lower right. Surrounded by scale notations. Friedman's framer's sticker label affixed, en verso. Matted and housed under glass in a giltwood frame with bead course running pattern. Plate: 17 1/8" H x 23 3/4" W. Sight: 17 1/4" H x 24" W. Framed: 27" H x 33 1/2" W.
PROVENANCE: The Collection of Dr. Joe Newsom Rawlings, Davisboro, Georgia.
CONDITION: Overall good condition with scattered, minute foxing spots, toning/acid burn, tears, largest 2 1/2", to edges of sheet. Not exmained outside of frame.
