Two (2) Cherokee carved wood animals. 1st item: Goingback Chiltoskey (1907-2000) sculpture depicting a goose perched on a naturalistic base. Signed with initials "GB" to right side of base. 9 1/2" H x 3" W x 7" D. 2nd item: Sculpture depicting an adult cat carrying a kitten by the scruff of the neck. Signed with initials "T" or "J" and "V or HB" to underside of adult cat's belly. 5 1/4" H x 2" W x 6 3/4" D.
PROVENANCE: The Collection of Michael and Peggy Mahoney, by descent from the historic homes of Clarkland Farm at Bryan's Station and Cherrycote, Lexington, Kentucky.
CONDITION: Both items in overall good condition with natural age shrinkage to wood. Clean glue breaks to goose's beak and adult cat's tail.
