Chapin (American/New York, 1823-1904) ink and gouache original Civil War illustration on paper titled "Chap III: McClellan and Prince de Joinville before Yorktown," later engraved by George T. Andres and included in the book "Recollections of a Private" by Warren Lee Goss, published in 1890 and featured on page 36. Artist-signed lower right in the illustration. Titled in pencil lower right margin together with other pencil inscriptions. Image: 8 1/2" H x 13 3/4" W. Sheet: 10 7/8" H x 17" W.

CONDITION: Approx. 1/2" tear upper margin and approx. 1" tear lower margin. Very slight toning to the paper and light creasing to the corners of the paper.
