Dollriehs (Ohio, 1917-1991) western genre paintings. 1st item: Oil on canvasboard painting titled "Navajo Newcomer" or "New American" depicting a Navajo mother in a green blouse holding a baby in a cradleboard, set against a desert landscape in Monument Valley, Utah. Signed and dated with location "Ed. J. Dollriehs Monument Valley Utah 1960" lower left. Black paint inscriptions reading "'New American'/Monument Valley, Utah/1961" en verso of board. Possible auction tag affixed en verso of frame. Cardstock label with title affixed lower center of frame. Housed in a carved, light brown painted wooden frame. Sight: 23 1/2" H x 19 1/2" W. Framed: 31 3/4" H x 27 3/4" W. 2nd item: Oil on canvasboard painting titled "Cow Poke" depicting a Navajo man wearing a black hat, red shirt, and blue jean on horseback in Monument Valley, Utah. Signed and dated with location "Ed.J.Dollriehs Monument Valley Utah 1961" lower right. Black paint inscriptions describing the scene including the subject's name, Eddie Spencer, with artist's monogramed "E.J.D.", en verso of board. Cardstock label with erroneous name of subject, affixed to lower center of frame. Housed in a carved giltwood frame. Sight: 19 1/2" H x 15 1/2" W. Framed: 28" H x 24" W.

CONDITION: 1st item: Overall very good condition. Frame with areas of loss, largest 1/4" x 2 1/4", to paint. 2nd item: Overall very good condition with areas of rubbing, largest 4", to left and right edges of board. En verso of board with vertical areas of dampstaining, approximately 20" x 2". Frame with areas of loss, 1" x 1/2", to gilt, natural age shrinkage.
