Robert Daughters (New Mexico, Arizona, Missouri, 1929-2013) oil on canvas expressionist landscape depicting colorful hollyhocks against a green backdrop. Signed lower right in red "R. Daughters". Housed in a contemporary rococo style gilt frame with linen and gilt wood liners. Sight: 11 3/4" H x 8 5/8" W, Framed: 22 1/4" H x 19 1/4" W. Biography (Adaped from AskArt): Daughters is known for Expressionist western landscape, figure and genre painting. He was noted for alternating light and dark colors and call this technique "cloisonne" for its resemblance to the ancient Asian enamel technique. He utilized dark lines to separate colors and define landscape form with sharp contrast.
CONDITION: Painting overall excellent condition. Linen liner with some foxing and spotting. Very mild foxing noted to the back of the canvas.
