Three (3) Elvis Presley items, including 2 signed photographs and 1 signed International Hotel folder. Pictured in the photographs are Jim and Gladys Tipler, who owned Crown Electric in Memphis, celebrating Mrs. Tipler''s birthday with friends at two separate Elvis performances at the Las Vegas Intercontinental Hotel, in the early 1970s. (note: On April 20, 1954, Elvis began working at Crown Electric for $1 per hour. He delivered supplies to job sites and hoped to become an electrician. He stayed at Crown until mid-October 1954, after having recorded his first record at Sun Studio. – Source: Graceland). Included with this lot is a handwritten letter of provenance from Ruth Ann Lewis, who worked for Marsh E. Tipler, executor of Jim and Gladys Tipler''s estates; 1 unsigned International Hotel folder, and a copy of a 1956 Elvis magazine biography. Folders: 11" x 9 1/4". Photos: 10" x 8" (one black and white, the other in color, both with "Happy Birthday" inscriptions; the color photograph inscription specifically names Mrs. Tipler).
PROVENANCE: Private Memphis collection.
CONDITION: Color photo: light fading and toning, ink not fully expressed in parts of the signature. B/W photo: light toning, couple spots of handling grime. Folders: light handling wear, signature bold. Magazine: handling wear.
