James Montgomery Flagg (American, 1877-1960) ink wash on paper illustration art painting titled “Wild as a Hawk,” depicting a man in dinner attire, leaning over the table of a man and woman in a restaurant. The man and woman are also formally dressed, and appear displeased by the interruption. Signed “James Montgomery Flagg” lower right, above a personal inscription to Jack Spooner, “with best regards through the years.” McFadden Publications / Liberty Magazine stamp en verso inscribed with title and artist’s name. Strathmore blind stamp to paper. Matted and framed under glass in a molded wood frame. Sheet: 29″ w x 23″ h. Frame: 33 1/2 in w x 26 1/2 h.
