1861 $100, first issue Confederate States of America obsolete currency note, Montgomery. Serial #740, Plate #A, Printer: National Bank Note Company. Hand signed by Alex B. Clitherall, Register, and E.C. Elmore, Treasurer. Inscribed en verso “Issued This 1st July, 1861” and signed “BC Pressley / Assn Tr” (Benjamin C. Pressley, CSA Assistant Treasurer). Additionally signed “Henry Clark / Charleston So. Ca.” PCGS Grade 30, Very Fine.

PROVENANCE: By descent in the historic Pinckney family of Runnymede Plantation, South Carolina.
