Lot 571: Gary Trudeau, 2 Original Doonesbury Comic Strip Illustrations

Two (2) Gary B. Trudeau (American, b. 1948) original illustrations for the comic strip Doonesbury. Pen, ink, Zipatone, and correction fluid on partially-printed paper. 1st item: Phil Slackmeyer at a pre-Superbowl cocktail party. Date 1/19/1982. 2nd item: Ellie and Howard discuss the Equal Rights Amendment. Date 11/24/1981. Both signed “G.B. Trudeau” lower right in image and framed in silver metallic frames, matted, under glass. Sight: 15 in x 5 1/2 in. Frames: 19 1/2 in x 10 in. 

PROVENANCE: The Entrekin Family Trust, estate of Ervin and Jane Entrekin, Nashville. 

CONDITION: Both with toning to paper,  fading to mats and wear to frames. One has significant dampstaining to mat. Past owner inscriptions en verso. Neither has been examined out of frame.
