1st item: Rare Peter Maverick stipple engraved, circular bust-length portrait of a man in military dress, identified in upper margin as Andrew Jackson. With Cumberland Collectors, Lebanon, TN label affixed to verso attributing the print to Peter Maverick, c. 1824, and with explanatory text reading "The portrait is that of Marquis de Lafayette who toured the U.S. in 1821. Due to confusion in Maverick's shop the error was made during Jackson's 1824 presidential campaign. It was corrected shortly thereafter and thus there are few extant originals. Rare." Floated under plexiglass in a gilt wood frame with gilt fillet and gray fabric mat. Sheet: 2" Dia. Frame: 11" H x 11" W. 2nd item: Framed Nathaniel Currier hand-colored lithograph titled "James K. Polk. Eleventh President of the United States", depicting the President seated in a blue chair with the Capitol visible in the background. Housed under plexiglass in a wood frame with gilt and ivory mat. Sight: 13" H x 8 3/4" W. Frame: 18 3/8" H x 14 3/16" W. 3rd item: Framed Nathanial Currier hand-colored lithograph titled "General Andrew Jackson. the Hero, the Sage, and the Patriot," depicting the President standing by a hickory tree with his home visible in the background, with his birth and death dates printed below the title. Housed under plexiglass in a gilt and ebonized wood frame with ivory mat. Sight: 13" H x 9" W. Frame: 18 5/16" H x 13 13/16" W. 4th item: James Baillie hand-colored lithograph with inserted stipple engraved portrait of Andrew Jackson. With text reading "To The Memory of Gen. Andrew Jackson" and depicting a memorial beneath a willow tree with a female figure and children paying their respects and a river with buildings visible in the background. Housed under plexiglass in a gilt and ebonized wood frame with white mat. Sight: 9" H x 13 1/4" W. Frame: 14 3/4" H x 19" W.
PROVENANCE: The collection of Ronnie Steine, Nashville.
CONDITION: 1st item: Trimmed to image. With crease through diameter and wear to edges. 2nd item: Tear and 1/8" hole with loss and staining, upper center, plus smudge and minor foxing to lower margin. 3rd item: With even toning to sheet and scattered foxing. 4th item: Prints in very good overall condition. Mat with foxing throughout. 2nd-4th items' frames with minor abrasions and losses. Not examined outside of frames.
