Lot of items related to Jefferson Davis (1808-1889) and Alexander Stephens, president and vice president of the Confederate States (1862-1865). Includes a Stephens autograph letter signed (ALS), 1 page, dated June 9, 1865, to Union Major General John A. Dix (1798-1879), written by Stephens while he was being held prisoner at Fort Warren: "Will you please have the enclosed communication addressed to the President of the United States, forwarded to him with all convenient dispatch… and have returned to me whatever answer may be given to it…"
Davis related items Include 1 bronzed zinc bust, copyright 1894, made by J.E. Miller, Atlanta, GA, 12"H; 2 CDVs and 1 cabinet card photograph of Davis; 4 wax seal imprints said to have been made from dies belonging to Mrs. Varina Davis; and 1 pamphlet, "Jefferson Davis: A Character Sketch" by H.H. Smith of Blackstone, VA.

CONDITION: Letter: Couple of pinholes, light toning and soiling, overall very good condition. Bust: patination and scuffs to cheek. 1 CDV with light spotting, other items very good condition with light toning.
