Two (2) U.S. Civil War era swords including one (1) Naval Cutlass, ricasso stamped "Ames Mfg. Co / Chicopee Mass" and "USN / DR / 1862" to other side, brass hilt with wire-wrapped leather grip. Blade: 26" L, overall: 32" L; one (1) USMC officer''s sword, blade decorated with foliate design and military motifs, marked "W.H. Horstmann & Sons Philadelphia" above ricasso and "Iron Proof" to spine, brass hilt with pierced foliate design guard, wire-wrapped leather grip. Brass-mounted leather scabbard lacking chape, featuring two suspension rings. Blade: 30" L, overall: 36" L.
PROVENANCE: Private Knoxville, Tennessee collection.
CONDITION: Blades with areas of oxidation, light pitting to blades. Shrinkage to wood grip of USMC sword, and scabbard missing chape. Wear to grips and leather/wire loss, mainly to USMC sword.
