Two (2) Civil War era Model 1860 cavalry sabers. 1st: One (1) M1860 with blade stamped "U.S / 1865 / A.G.M" to one side of ricasso, "C. Roby / W. Chelmsford / Mass" to other side; brass hilt with three branch guard and wire-wrapped leather grip. Comes with metal nickeled scabbard, with two suspension rings. Blade: 34 1/2" L. Overall: 43 1/2" L. 2nd item: One (1) M1860 with brass hilt with three branch guard and wire-wrapped leather grip, stamped with E near pommel. Comes with metal gilt scabbard with two suspension rings. Blade: 35" L. Overall: 43" L. Possibly German.
PROVENANCE: Private Knoxville, Tennessee collection.
CONDITION: Blades with oxidation, scattered nicks, pitting. Areas of oxidation to brass and wear to plating or gilt on scabbards. 2nd item: Basket of hilt slightly misshapen.
