1st item: Native American Cherokee "Purse" basket with walnut-dyed weavers woven in a diamond pattern with two hinged wood handles attached to rim. 10 1/8" H x 10 3/4" W x 7" D. 20th century. 2nd item: Native American Cherokee large market basket having walnut and bloodroot-dyed weavers woven in a geometric and diamond pattern with wooden handle. 19 1/8" H x 17 1/2" W x 8 1/4" D. First half of the 20th century. 3rd item: Native American Chitimacha rivercane basket, possibly Chitimacha, with alternating geometric dyed weavers. This basket appears to have an old deaccession or museum inventory tag. 2 5/8" x 5 1/4" square. 20th century. 4th item: Small doubleweave lidded lidded basket, possibly Native American. 2 1/2"H x 4 1/4" square. 20th century.
PROVENANCE: Private Hawkins County, Tennessee collection.
CONDITION: 1st item: Scattered minor breaks to weavers; scattered losses, including to corners, largest measuring 1" x 5/8"; minute splintering to one handle. 2nd item: Scattered wear and surface grime throughout; minor splintering of handle; scattered losses, including to corners and base of handle, largest measuring 1 1/4" x 7/8". 3rd & 4th items: Overall very good condition.
