Collection of six (6) Native American Cherokee baskets, some signed, and 1 Bigmeat Family pottery jar. Baskets include one (1) white oak round form footed basket with handle and dyed weavers by Bettie Lossie, signed to underside with original Qualla Arts tag affixed to handle; one (1) rectangular form wall basket with dyed weavers by Emma Taylor (1920-2002) signed to underside; one (1) white oak square form basket with walnut and bloodroot dyed weavers by Agnes Welch with original Qualla Arts tag affixed to rim; one (1) white oak lidded market basket with handle and dyed weavers; one (1) rectangular form white oak handled basket with dyed weavers; and one (1) round honeysuckle woven mat. Ranging in size from 9 1/2″ H x 10 1/4″ W to 16″ H x 18 ” W x 11″ D. Also included is a Native American blackware pottery cylindrical form vase with incised geometric patterns. Signed with location “Made by Bigmeat Cherokee NC GWY” to underside of base. 4″ H x 5″ Dia. Mid-late 20th century.
CONDITION: Rectangular unsigned basket with overall wear and some breaks and losses to weavers. All others in overall good condition with light use wear. Jar in very good condition with light surface wear.
