Immediate post-revolutionary eagle head pommel cavalry sword or saber. Blade engraved with floral and military motifs, including "E Pluribus Unum" with early frog leg eagle, and faint "warranted" etched near the base; stamped "21" to spine near base. Brass hilt with reverse P shape guard and wire-wrapped carved bone grip. Fitted with a brass scabbard with two suspension rings. Blade: 31 3/4" L. Overall: 37 1/4" L. American, early 19th century.
PROVENANCE: Private Knoxville, Tennessee collection.
CONDITION: Areas of oxidation and light pitting to blade. Guard slightly loose. Scabbard with loose/detached throat and scattered dents, oxidation.
