Eagle head pommel cavalry sword or saber with gilt military motifs and floral decoration to blade near hilt. Reverse P shaped guard and carved bone grip. Includes leather scabbard with brass mountings and two suspension rings. 1840 impressed to upper scabbard brass mounting. Blade: 30" L. Overall with scabbard: 36 1/4" L. American, first half 19th century.
PROVENANCE: Private Knoxville, Tennessee collection.
CONDITION: Patination and oxidation to brass mountings and hilt. Minor scattered scratches and dents to brass mountings and hilt, pitting to blade.
