Dragoon or cavalry sword or saber. Brass hilt with carved wood grip. Fitted with a metal scabbard with two suspension rings, possibly previously nickeled. Blade: 32 1/2" L. Overall with scabbard: 39" L. American, first half 19th century.
PROVENANCE: Private Knoxville, Tennessee collection.
CONDITION: Oxidation and light pitting, nicks to blade and possible old repair to the ricasso area of the blade. Pommel and guard slightly loose. Oxidation and scattered dents to scabbard. Grip does not retain leather.
