Two (2) Half Stock Percussion Rifles. 1st item: American mid-19th century, .50 caliber, heavy octagonal barrel stamped "BRUNKER / OTTAWA / WARRANTED" on top flat behind the adjustable rear sight; walnut half stock with brass trigger guard and crescent buttplate; lockplate stamped "Moore", with a wooden ramrod with worm on end. Barrel: 33 1/2" L, Overall 49 1/2" L. Note: Henry P. Brunker worked in Ottawa, Ill. from 1848 to 1872. 2nd item: .36 caliber percussion rifle with 36 1/2" L. octagonal barrel, front and rear sights, walnut half stock with brass trigger guard, metal buttplate, wooden ramrod. Overall 53 1/2" L; Barrel 36 1/2" L.
PROVENANCE: The living estate of Dr. Jerry Waters, Maryville, TN.
CONDITION: 1st item: There is a brass band repair with brass screws to wrist. Half of nose cap is gone. 20-30% of original bluing remains. Action partially functional, hammer holds and releases. Bore shows pitting. 2nd item: Pitting to metal lockplate and barrel. Small piece of metal missing at bottom corner of buttplate with replaced screw. Hammer moves but does not set.
