Note: Theodor Zwinger (1533-1588), a significant figure of the late humanist movement in Basel, was a multifaceted Renaissance scholar: a humanist, physician, philosopher, and polymath. Financially backed by publisher Perna, he authored books on ethics, history, and travel, but is best known for commentaries on Galen and Hippocrates as well as on Aristotle’s NICHOMACHEAN ETHICS and POLITICS.
