Full stock flintlock muzzle-loading rifle, lockplate marked “W. Ketland & Co”, top of barrel marked “D. Wright” (presumably owner); 45 1/4 in. round barrel, 62 cal.; full hardwood stock with darkened “tiger stripe” finish; hardwood ramrod; brass sideplate, trigger guard, butt plate with engraved dentil design; brass fore-end cap, ramrod handle, thimble and 3 guides. Rounded blade front sight, rear has two dovetails to accept rear sight, one with V notch sight installed. Engraved designs on barrel breech top, upper tang, hammer and lock. Barrel: 45 1/4 in. L. Overall: 62 in. L. American, possibly New England, circa early 19th century.
CONDITION: Bore is patinated with well-defined lands and seven grooves. Action is semi-functioning; holds hammer lock, trigger releases with hand cycling. Older surface, right side of stock edge in front of lock-plate with an old glued break, 3 in. sliver of stock missing right side above barrel guide.
