Norman Rockwell (American, 1894-1978) signed lithograph titled "Young Lincoln" and depicting the future President reading a book as he walks home from working as a rail splitter. From the edition of 35 artist's proofs published by Eleanor Ettinger, Inc. New York, 1976. Pencil signed to lower right margin and numbered AP XX/XXXV, lower left margin. Housed in a parcel giltwood frame with brown linen mat. The original leather clamshell portfolio with facsimile Lincoln signature, title page, and colophon page with edition information in pencil is included with this lot. Sight: 30" H x 16" W. Framed: 43 1/4" H x 28 1/2" W. Portfolio: 35" H x 20" W.
CONDITION: Lithograph in overall very good condition. Title page and colophon with foxing, especially to lower edge of title page. Portfolio with spotty discoloration to leather pastedowns, likely related to foxing of sheets held within.
