World War 2 German SA Service Dagger (or Sturmabteilung Dienstdolch), in black painted metal scabbard (possibly indicating NSKK use); original medium-brown wood grip, embedded with nickel eagle / swastika emblem and SA roundel with brown background enamel; nickel guards, pommel nut, scabbard fittings and suspension ring; the lower guard marked with the Gruppe stamp, "Ns", issued in Niedersachsen. The cross-grained blade bears the etched slogan "Alles für Deutschland" (Everything for Germany) on the front; the reverse of the blade is etched with a seated king above "SMF", the maker mark of the firm Solinger Metallwaffen-Fabrik of Solingen. Note: The SA-Dienstdolch (SA service dagger) was provided to Sturmabteilung members, the Nazi Party''s original paramilitary wing predating the SS. The black scabbard indicates it was issued to a member of the Nationalsozialistisches Kraftfahrkorps (National Socialist Motor Corps).
PROVENANCE: Brought back post-war, by a Base Commander of Freising Air Force Base, Germany.
CONDITION: Very good condition, straight tip, even patina; blade appears sharpened, slight scabbard scratches on both sides, cross-graining evident near hilt; roundel with slight enamel loss; 1/8" stress crack to lower guard to the left of the "Ns" stamp; scabbard painted black over black, slight dent to ball tip.
