Four (4) Native American Cherokee baskets, all with naturally dyed weavers, including 1 rivercane purse basket woven in the Chief’s Daughters pattern with a handwritten note stating that is was “woven by Alice Walkingstick, 80”; 1 rivercane purse basket woven in the Chief’s Heart pattern; 1 rivercane rectangular market basket woven in the Chief’s Daughter pattern, and one white oak wastebasket. Ranging in size from 8 1/8 in. H x 11 in. W x 5 in. D to 16 in. H x 17 1/2 in. L x 10 in. D. All 20th century.
PROVENANCE: The collection of Marty and David Black, Rockford, TN.
CONDITION: 1st basket overall very good condition. 2nd basket with very minor wear to the corners. Rectangular basket with moderate losses to corner weavers and handle weavers. The wastebasket is overall good condition with remnants of blue paint.
