Three Japanese swords or Katanas, with late Edo period fittings. 1st Item: Katana with simulated silk over rayskin handle, tsuba engraved and inlaid with yellow metal, loosely translated “Zodiac Year of the Monkey, Autumn, 8th Month”. Kanji on one side; Illegible signature. Blade 33 1/2 in L.; Overall w/ scabbard 37 in. 2nd Item: Katana with iron tsuba with inlaid warrior figures, ray skin wrapped in silk threads; Signed on one side, likely “Kanemitsu”, Blade 26 3/4 in.; Overall w/ scabbard 30 in. 3rd Item: Wakizashi or short katana with black painted wooden scabbard, silk wrapped handle, ornamental tsuba. Illegibly signed on one side. Blade 22 3/8 in. L.; Overall 24 in. L. Ca. 19th C or earlier.
CONDITION: Each in fair overall condition, streaks to blades, sharpened, buildup/rust on nakago. 3rd Item: missing cord attachment to scabbard, with crack to wood; handle somewhat loose.
