1st Item: London made William Ketland flintlock pistol, ca. 1800-1810. 8-inch brass barrel stamped LONDON, with two proof marks and WK. Lock marked W KETLAND. Smooth hardwood stock stamped TP on left flat; with floret engraved brass trigger guard; brass grip cap and ramrod tunnels holding a wooden ramrod. Blank brass escutcheon to top of wrist. William Ketland founded his own gunsmithing firm “W. Ketland” (1802-1807), later “W. Ketland & Co.” (1808-1831), although William died in 1804. 13 in. overall L. 2nd Item: Small, early flintlock pistol, iron mounted with light engraving, wood with carved flowering fleur de lis to top. Unmarked, 8 1/2 in. overall L.
CONDITION: 1st Item (Ketland): Very good overall condition with light handling wear; hammer arm slightly loose; action functional, hammer holds two positions and releases with strong trigger pull. 2nd Item: Stock with repaired cracks underneath, 1 1/2 in. section missing front right of muzzle. Hammer does not lock in position.
