Andrew Saftel (American/Tennessee, b. 1959), "Dear Friend," abstract mixed media collage painting on board, composed of multiple elements including oil/acrylic, metal, wood, intaglio, and found objects on board. Collage of abstract themes including applied objects such as lock plate, skeleton key, square nails, wood, and other elements interspersed throughout. Signed, dated, and titled verso: "A. Saftel / '96 / Dear Friend". Self-framed. 48" H x 36" W.
Note: Tennessee artist Andrew Saftel earned a BFA in printmaking from the San Francisco Art Institute in 1981. He was awarded the Tennessee Art Commissions Artist Fellowship in 1999. His work was included in the 2003 "Art of Tennessee" exhibit at the Frist Art Museum and the 2002-2003 traveling exhibit, "A Century of Progress: Twentieth Century Painting in Tennessee" mounted by the Cheekwood Museum of Art. Sculpture commissions include the Knoxville Convention Center and the Atlanta Hartsfield International Airport.
CONDITION: Very good condition with light surface grime.
