British School, 19th-century oil on canvas half length portrait of a Naval officer, seated on the deck of a ship and attired in uniform with his hat in his hands and his looking glass beneath his left arm. Unsigned. With partial F. Le Gallais & Sons, Jersey, British Islands label affixed to stretcher. Housed in a parcel gilt ebonized wood frame with a gilt wood liner. Sight: 35 5/8 in. H x 25 1/2 in. W. Framed: 45 3/8 in. H x 35 3/8 in. W. 

CONDITION: Overall good condition with fine craquelure and a few areas of retouching, primarily to the perimeter.
