Carl Trock-Madsen (Denmark, 1891-1953) oil on canvas expressionist painting titled "Children Playing, 1930," depicting children in a garden or schoolyard under the supervision of a nearby adult in the shadows. The work is rendered in dark tones with large painterly brushstrokes and light impasto. Signed and dated "TM 3…" lower right. Danish art exhibition label en verso with title, date 1930, and artist name and handwritten inscription with artist name and date, en verso of canvas. Pencil inscription reading "Collectors Art Exhibit 1934" en verso of stretcher. Unframed. Sight: 36 3/4" H x 43 1/4" W.

CONDITION: Overall wear and age to canvas, very fragile along perimeter of work. Some abrasion to lower right corner.
