Amelia Ruth Coats (Hawaii, 1872-1949), two (2) etchings of Hawaiian landscapes, one signed AC in the plate, both signed in pencil lower right. Not numbered. Each matted under glass in a painted narrow frame. Sight: each approximately 5" H x 3" W. Frames: 11" H x 9" W.
Biography: Amelia Coats was known for her detailed etchings and block prints depicting Hawaiian landscapes prior to its official U.S. Statehood. She exhibited with the Honolulu Printmakers at the Honolulu Academy of Arts, where some of her work is now in the permanent collection. She also taught printmaking. Source: Don R. CONDITION: Toning to sheets and mats; one image has a few spots of light foxing. Light wear to frames.
