Three (3) European School paintings. 1st item: Watercolor and gouache on paper landscape painting attributed to Christian Friedrich Fues (Germany, 1772-1836) depicting a stream flowing through a hilly landscape. Signed with monogram lower left. Housed and matted under glass in a giltwood frame. Sight: 10" H x 13 3/4" W. Framed: 16 1/4" H x 20 1/4" W. 2nd item: Oil on panel painting depicting a city street scene, likely in France or Germany, a large cathedral visible in the background. Unsigned. Housed in a giltwood frame with carved corner decorations with old hanging hook to bottom center. Sight: 9 1/2" H x 11 3/4" W. Framed: 14 1/2" H x 16 3/4" W. 3rd item: Watercolor and gouache on paper painting depicting the Holy Family and John the Baptist depicted before a small stream in a landscape setting. Unsigned. Ink inscriptions, en verso. Housed under glass in a giltwood frame. Sight: 7 1/4" H x 5 1/8" W. Framed: 9 3/4" H x 7 1/2" W.
PROVENANCE: The Estate of Margaret Harold Roberts, Lookout Mountain, Georgia.
CONDITION: All items in overall good condition. 1st item: Not examined outside of frame. Frame with minor areas of loss, largest 3/4", to gilt. 2nd item: Surface grime, areas of natural age shrinkage, largest 1 1/4", to top right and lower left of panel. Frame with areas of loss, largest 2 1/4", to gilt, lower left carved decoration appears to have been restored, natural age shrinkage. 3rd item: Not examined outside of frame.
