Lot 455: 2 Native American Pottery Jars, Cherokee & Catawba

1st item: Native American Cherokee figural pottery jar by Maude Welch (1894-1953, North Carolina), the rim and handles comprised of textured snakes. Inscribed on the base “Made by Claude Welch, Cherokee, NC”. 6 1/2 in. H x 7 in. W. 2nd item:  Native American Catawba jar with Chief effigy head handles, unsigned. 6 in. H x 9 in. W. Both items 20th century.

CONDITION: Both items are in very good condition with no chips or cracks present. Welch jar does have a few firing or in-the-making flaws.
