Seven (7) pieces Southeast Asian and Caribbean silver holloware. 1st item: Large, possibly Burmese or Thai footed silver jar with ornate repousse decoration, including a band of figural motifs surrounded by bands of wave, floral, and geometric decoration. 8" H x 9" diameter, unmarked but tests .99 pure silver. 2nd item: Silverplated or white metal cricket cage or vinaigrette having a circular green hardstone inset disc to the pierced lid, and repousse bird and flower decoration to sides. 2" square. Unsigned. 3rd item: Silverplated jar with slanted, open side, snake form handle, and repousse floral decoration throughout. Unsigned. 4 3/4" H. 4th item: Small oval snuff box with palm tree and landscape decoration, engraved "Trinidad B.W.I." to lid. Unmarked but tests sterling. 2 1/2" W. 5th-7th items: Three (3) covered betel nut boxes, two of gourd shape with filigree leafy stems, unmarked, plus one of round shape with foo dog finial and hallmarks to base and side of lid including a small swan hallmark. One gourd shape box and the box with foo dog finial test sterling. All approximately 3" diameter and 2 1/2 to 4 1/2" H. Combined weight sterling silver: 7.21 troy ounces. Combined weight .99 pure silver: 31.50 troy ounces.
PROVENANCE: Private Nashville, Tennessee collection.
CONDITION: 3rd item has surface wear, showing copper. Smallest betel nut box has repaired split to side, 3/4", and lid is out of alignment with base, "stem" is loose. Box with foo dog finial has significant denting to sides and the lid and base are misaligned to the point that the lid does not sit on the base. Other items very good condition.
