Scarborough (American, b. 1970) oil on canvas Western landscape painting depicting Native American Cheyenne women and children riding on horseback across a grassy plain dotted with wildflowers, with buttes in the distance and bright blue sky overhead. Signed lower right and dated 2004. Painted and parcel gilt frame. Sight: 29 1/2 in H x 39 1/2 in W. Frame: 34 1/2 in H x 44 1/2 in W. Note: this lot is accompanied by a handwritten letter from the artist to the late owner of the painting, stating that the subjects are Cheyenne and discussing his interactions with Native Americans in order to paint his subject matter with as much accuracy as possible.
PROVENANCE: Private Nashville collection.
