A farmer with his team or horses plow before a barren, distant mountain range in the background. Signed and dated lower right. Housed in a carved and gesso gilt wood frame, possibly the original. CONDITION: Painting with stretcher marks especially along upper and left edges plus craquelure to the sky and light grime. With scattered areas of retouch or inpainting, largest to scratch to rightmost mountain peak, 6 1/2 inch x 3 3/4 inch, and to upper-right corner. See UV photography. Frame with some light fractures to gilt and losses to the corners and lower inner edge.
