Sterling Strauser (Pennsylvania, 1907-1995) large oil on board painting depicting figures astride horses on a carousel. The image is conveyed with Strauser''s typical sgraffito incised outlines, accented with spots of colorful, thick impasto. Signed "Strauser" lower left and dated 1961. Lyzon (Nashville) framing label en verso. Panel is mounted to a linen covered board and enclosed in a gilt-burnished frame. Panel: 24" H x 36" W. Frame: 32 1/2" H x 44 1/2" W.
PROVENANCE: Private Nashville Collection.
CONDITION: Painting in very good condition. Some wear/distressing to frame edges.
