Andre (Gittelson) Gisson (New York, Connecticut / France,1921-2003) oil on canvas impressionist painting depicting a vibrant springtime lake scene with boats visible along a tree-lined shore with red-roofed structures visible to the far right and a city skyline visible in the background. Signed and dated ''62 lower left. Vixseboxse Art Gallery, Cleveland, Ohio label en verso. Housed in a gilt wood frame with linen mat and giltwood liner. Sight: 23 5/8" H x 29 5/8" W. PROVENANCE: The estate of Thelma Schlicher, by descent from the estate of U.S. Ambassador Ronald Schlicher, Brentwood, TN. Note: Tennessee native Ron Schlicher entered the foreign service in 1982, working primarily in the Middle East. He returned to TN after retiring in 2011. Among his many diplomatic roles, he served as Ambassador to Cyprus, U.S. Principal Deputy Assistant Coordinator of Counterterrorism, and was director of the Iraq Task Force during the 2003 war with Iraq.
